What to Do in Toronto

Kensington Market

Kensington Market

Located in the heart of Old Toronto -- where the city first began -- is Kensington Market. An ultra-hip, bohemian neighborhood, the area is home to artists, writers, hipsters, indie rockers, purveyors of fine food and drink, and even antique hunters. Although Kensington Market is a popular district, the vibe is surprisingly chill. Colorful graffiti and street art murals fill your view as you enter. The neighborhood encompasses a square city block and includes boutique grocers, fancy cheese shops, gluten-free bakeries, and foreign cuisine. If you want vintage records or ultra-trendy bars, Kensington’s got those, too.

Pounding the pavement isn’t everyone’s jam, and Toronto is much more than one, big concrete jungle in which to play. There are parks, too. A high park -- really! Within the depths of Toronto is High Park, complete with a labyrinth, lush gardens, a nature center, waterpark, pool, tennis club, ski club, lake views, and a small zoo. There are even a few eateries around to fill your midday munchies. High Park is easy to access by public transit, and the parking is sometimes convenient. It may sound like just another walk in the park, but stoners herd here to smoke -- just to say they did.

Toronto Islands
Lake Ontario
Not far from High Park, along the Lake Ontario shoreline, are the Toronto Islands. Here, 15 islands link together to create one beautiful view. The Toronto Islands are a regional park and only accessible by foot or bicycle. There are bike rental companies on either side of the ferry. The other way to view the island is by water. Grab some canoes or kayaks from Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Center. The truly adventurous can rent stand-up paddleboards. Toronto Island SUP begins rental service as of June 1. Toronto Island features several beaches and parks. To the north is the city skyline, to the south is big, blue Lake Ontario.

Niagara Falls: Think the view is impressive from the New York Side?

Take the hour drive from Toronto to nearby Niagara Falls -- three giant waterfalls that straddle the 49th parallel between the province of Ontario and the state of New York. They're dazzling sober, so just imagine how wondrous they'll look and sound with THC coursing through your system. You might not want to spark up right in the park. Never mind the law, there are lots of kids and conservative parents milling around. Wander a little further off the beaten path and there's plenty to stimulate your endocannabinoid system. The local cannabis community has its metaphorical bong loaded with a fat bowl of activities. High Q Niagara is an inclusive community-based group running cannabis-friendly events. Some of their popular activities include Puff and Pose, Puff and Paint, and Wim Hof cold water exposure. Check out the Niagara Weed & Wine Tours, too.

If your stomach still isn’t churning from this super-high view, the CN Tower’s famous 360-degree view revolving restaurant may do the trick. Or, try theEdgeWalk, if you dare. It is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk and the first of its kind in North America.
