** This Adventure is completely dependent on the time. Scheduling must be done in accordance with tide times for Cape Split. ** A challenging hike to a difficult and elusive place to reach, Amethyst Cove, NS. Expect very steep inclines as you will be hiking up for a while, followed by a rope descent cascading down a 300ft cliff. Part of which is an actual rock climb. The beach is a combination of large difficult to navigate boulders down to sandy sections. Not for the inexperienced hiker. Breathtaking views of everything in the Minas Basin however. Never ending cliff sides. Some of the best rockhounding in the area, the potential to find your own piece of amethyst is high. The heavier the rock you take back, the heavier your pack will be on your way back up the cliff, so keep that in mind. I don't like to sugar coat this hike, just as a precaution and to keep everyone safe. But in fact this is my favorite hike in the entire province and I do it many times throughout the year. MEET UP: Parking lot for Cape Split Provincial Park. Great time for a pre hike joint/meet and greet. HIKE LENGTH: Approximately 5.5km one way. 6 - 8 hours is a good amount of time for this adventure. You'll be sweating at times. - Hiking boots or shoes. - *Plenty of food and snacks. - *Plenty of water. - GPS, can be your phone. There's no actual scheduled breaks though. If you want to stop, we stop. If you want to hike the entire thing right away, that's alright too. It's up to you, you can set the pace.
